Modality Partnership awarded contract to deliver Primary Medical Services at The Windmill Practice, Sneinton

We are pleased to confirm that Modality Partnership has been awarded the contract to continue the delivery of primary medical services for the patients of The Windmill Practice, from 1 June 2024.

The contract award means that there will be no significant changes to our primary medical services and patients can continue to access these services in the same way, at the same location.

All eligible staff at the practice will have the opportunity to transfer to the new provider under TUPE arrangements.

The Windmill Practice partners, Dr Stephen Willott, Dr Helen Sperry, Dr Pax Nathan and Dr Dan Haycock said: “We are very pleased that a bigger GP group, which works with similar practices across the country, has agreed to support the practice. The current partners have been looking for a way to ensure continuity and quality of care for some time now, as the small partnership model is not working well in this type of practice.

“This is a positive step, as this means all of our staff have secure jobs, and experienced people running the practice in the background. For patients there should be no changes, as we will continue to provide primary medical services, with the same staff, from the same building.”

Modality Partnership operates primary health care and community services across the United Kingdom, providing GP services to over 470,000 patients.

The new contract at The Windmill Practice will be in place for ten years, with the option to extend for a further five years.

Modality will be offering an opportunity for patients to meet senior employees and ask questions at events this summer (dates to be confirmed).

“Modality has considerable experience of providing GP services across the country, and we are looking forward to them continuing the work of the current Windmill partners in delivering excellent services to patients in Sneinton.”

Welcome to The Windmill Practice

The practice aims to welcome people from all walks of life and address the needs in particular of those who are disadvantaged due to physical, mental and social problems. We have developed particular expertise in issues relating to homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse and asylum seekers and refugees.


We are working hard to meet the needs of our patients and have embraced different ways of working to serve you the best way that we can.

Test Results

When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told that you should expect to 2 week for the GP to send you your results. Please bear this in mind when contacting the surgery and only call once sufficient time has elapsed if you have not received a result.

All test results are communicated to patients so if you have not received your result after 2 weeks, please ring reception, or use our accurx link Contact us about your request (accurx.com) to request the results.

Our reception staff are not qualified to comment on results but they will help you book appointments to discuss your concerns with the appropriate clinician or any follow up tests that are required


Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.

UPDATE ABOUT CURRENT DEMAND AND CAPACITY

August 2023 - There are still a high number of calls and requests for appointments at the moment, we are currently in Amber alert.

Demand remains high and we are doing our best to help as many patients as possible whilst providing safe and effective care.

If you are struggling to get through to us on the phone to make an appointment and your query is non-urgent, you can contact us via the GP triage form of our website (see below)

  • NHS 111 online can tell you where to get help for your symptoms if you’re not sure what to do, how to find general health information and advice, where to get an emergency supply of your prescribed medicine and how to get a repeat prescription. You can also call NHS 111 to speak to a clinician and make bookings for urgent treatment centres and other services. The online and telephone services are available 24/7.
  • Anyone who is in mental health distress should call the Mental Health Crisis Line: 0808 196 3779 – the helpline is open 24 hours a day.
  • Pharmacists can help with over-the-counter advice and medication. Use the NHS search to find your nearest pharmacy. 
  • Despite the challenges faced, essential services remain fully open for anyone who needs them so if someone requires urgent medical help, they should continue to come forward.

What is happening at The Windmill Practice?
You may read and hear information about The Windmill Practice in the next few weeks. Please see below for the accurate and up to date statement. Please be assured that we remain open and you should continue to access us as usual. There is no risk of the practice closing down and any reports of this are false. There is a contact number or email in the letter if you have any queries, the practice staff don't know any more and are unable to discuss further.

We can confirm that the current contract holders for primary medical services at The Windmill Practice in Sneinton, Nottingham have served notice and they will be withdrawing from the delivery of the service. The notice period ends at the end of May 2024. We would like to reassure patients that there will be no immediate changes and they should continue to use GP services at the Windmill Practice as they usually do.
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is undertaking a procurement process to identify a new provider to continue the delivery of primary medical services, for the patients of The Windmill Practice beyond the end of May 2024, from the current location.

Who is leading this process?
NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) is the organisation responsible for planning and commissioning healthcare in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
The Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB aims to appoint a provider to deliver high quality primary medical services for patients registered with The Windmill Practice.

Will there be any changes to the services offered at the practices?
There are no planned significant changes to the services provided
